Maria Elena Cruz Biography
Maria Elena Cruz is a native of Los
Angeles, CA.
When she embarked on a career in the arts as her vocation for life,
little did she know that it would be a journey of self-discovery. Her
work has influenced and shaped her intellectual and spiritual growth. She
was born to paint; that is her souls call.
As a child she
possessed a deep-rooted appreciation for beauty. She constantly found
herself transposing her emotions onto paper. Her passion for art exceeded
her ambitions as she began to teach young people how to harness their
emotions and translate them into art. She currently promotes dignity in
the lives of neglected high schools students, teaching them art and
mathematics.
In expressing herself
on canvas, Maria Elena’s work is filled with literary thoughts,
transformed into brush strokes of vivid colors. From simplicity, many
stories come to life with her paint brush. Stories that rekindle the
spirit and nurtures the soul. Rather than displaying the obvious, she
exposes the spirit that will often hide behind the wall of our flesh.
Upon closer inspection, the viewer is rewarded with an invitation to
contemplate their own quest for self-discovery.
Maria hopes to bring
her lexicon of emotions into the lives of the people who are searching
for inspiration, optimism and love. Her art will arouse passions of hope
for humanity. She feels that she was born to express herself, and not
only learn from her struggles, but to speak in a universal voice for the
family of man. Her art touches so many people that Maria Elena is duty
bound to continue her encouragement of the soul.
